Central Utility Plant Expansion
Texas A&M Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi, Texas
The Central Utility Plant for the campus of Texas A&M Corpus Christi is expanded to eventually provide 3,000 additional tons of cooling capacity, bringing the total capacity to 7,500 tons; this project brings 1,500 tons online now and makes spacial and infrastructure provisions for the remaining 1,500 tons to be installed at a future date. The completed plant design comprises six (6) centrifugal chillers, one (1) million gallons of chilled water storage, four (4) heating boilers, and six (6) field-erected, cooling-tower cells.
The architectural expansion comprises new exterior masonry walls with 12" CMU backup walls. Coursings modules, opening sizes, and cast stone caps match and complement existing conditions.
The project was designed architecturally, structurally and mechanically with Autodesk® Revit software. Cleary Zimmermann held the prime contract the project and was responsible for a fully coordinated team of architects, structural and civil engineers, and security and cost consultants.
